Celebrate America Recycles Month with SWACO and Recycle Right!

November is America Recycles Month, and SWACO (the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio) is making it easier than ever for Franklin County residents to recycle responsibly. Here’s how you can join in and help keep our community sustainable:

1. Recycle Right at the SWACO Recycling Convenience Center

November 15 marks both America Recycles Day and the one-year anniversary of SWACO’s Recycling Convenience Center (RCC), which has already diverted nearly 200,000 pounds of waste from the landfill! The RCC has added empty prescription pill bottles to its list of accepted items and has removed fees for recycling latex paint. This is a fantastic opportunity to clear out those hard-to-recycle items and dispose of them properly.

2. Join the Rumpke Recycling Webinar on November 13

Franklin County’s recycling program is expanding, and SWACO is hosting a Rumpke Recycling Webinar on November 13 at noon to share what’s new. This session will cover updates on Rumpke's new recycling facility and the addition of plastic clamshell containers to the curbside recycling list. Register now to learn how these changes impact your household recycling routine.

3. Recycle Campaign Yard Signs After the Election

With election season wrapping up, many of us have campaign signs still in our yards. SWACO provides easy ways to recycle these metal, plastic, and cardboard signs once the election is over. Let’s keep our neighborhood clean and green!

4. Compost Your Pumpkins and Gourds

Don’t let those pumpkins go to waste! Through December, Franklin County offers multiple pumpkin composting collection sites. Composting pumpkins and gourds keeps them out of landfills and provides nutrient-rich soil for local projects.

Let’s make America Recycles Month a success by recycling right and supporting SWACO’s initiatives.

Together, we can help make KWPCA a greener, cleaner community!
